I have worked in the mental health field since 2008 in various settings, from addiction treatment to psychiatric rehabilitation. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York, with an MA in Counseling from NYU. I received a post-graduate certificate of training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the American Institute of Psychoanalysis. Because I was born and raised in the US as a woman of color, the daughter of Indian immigrants, I know personally how it feels to be different, or othered, or an outsider. I also know what it's like to struggle with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, self-esteem, issues with food, career questions, and relationships. I hope to bring my knowledge, professional training, and personal experience to help you feel more free in your own life.
My way of working is holistic - I want to understand who you are. We will begin by coming into a safe space and creating a therapeutic alliance so we can build trust without judgment. In each 45-minute session, we will explore where you are right now, your thoughts and emotions, as well as your history and background, so that together we can gain an understanding of your inner world, your goals, and what stands in your way from feeling more alive. By committing to this work, you will learn to embrace your many strengths to feel confident in navigating what life brings.
Please note: I am currently only accepting clients for telemental health video sessions. I am also in the process of terminating my participation in the Blue Cross Blue Shield panel.
